Please provide the following information to your fund:
Amount you’d like to give to GAGV
GAGV Tax ID# 88-4053494
Please instruct them to provide your name and address on the check or correspondence so we can provide the required receipt needed for your taxes.
If you do not have a donor-advised fund, you can establish a fund at a public charity through a gift of cash or assets and receive an immediate tax benefit for the full amount. Then, in the role of a donor adviser, you recommend charitable contributions to nonprofits such as GAGV from the fund.
This provides you with the time to make thoughtful philanthropic decisions while receiving an immediate tax benefit for the initial gift plus the added convenience of a public charity managing the fund and the distributions.

Giving from your IRA is a smart way to achieve your charitable goals and receive income tax benefits. Current tax law allows you to give a qualified charitable distribution to GAGV directly from your individual retirement account. QCDs reduce your income that is taxed when you have to take required minimum distributions (RMD) starting at age 72.
You can make a QCD at age 70½ even though you do not have to take a RMD until age 72. In fact, if you think you will face significant taxes when your RMD begins at age 72, making QCDs at 70½ can reduce the overall amount in your IRA that will be taxed.
To make a gift to GAGV from your IRA, follow these steps:
Notify your IRA trustee that you would like to make a qualified charitable distribution, and fill out the required paperwork from the trustee. The check from your IRA trustee should be made to Global Action on Gun Violence and mailed directly to:
Global Action on Gun Violence
10001 Georgetown Pike
P.O. Box 18
Great Falls, VA 22066
Please instruct your IRA trustee to provide your name and address on the QCD paperwork.
Contact Mary Ester at 202-445-0163 when you’ve directed the gift. When we receive it, we’ll provide the required gift receipt.
Your donation can go further! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs that will match any charitable contribution – check with your human resources department to find out about your employer’s workplace giving options.
If you are creating a will and would like to name Global Action on Gun Violence as a beneficiary, you can provide the following language to your attorney or advisor:
“I give and bequeath (The Trust shall distribute) to Global Action on Gun Violence, Tax ID# 88-4053494, the sum of $________ (or percent of the rest and residue of my estate or trust) to be used by it for its general charitable purposes.”
If you have additional assets not covered in your will or trust such as an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any additional accounts, these are called “non-probate assets” and they need to be planned for separately. You can designate Global Action on Gun Violence as the beneficiary of these assets to help end gun violence.
If you have put Global Action on Gun Violence in your will, please contact Mary Ester at 202-445-0163 or email hidden; JavaScript is required
